Kusten Vorland Supports Global Asbestos Awareness Week 2025

From April 1st to 7th, Kusten Vorland is proud to support Global Asbestos Awareness Week 2025, a vital international campaign dedicated to raising awareness of asbestos-related risks and preventing exposure.

Led by experts, survivors, and organisations across the globe, the initiative encourages learning, collaboration, and meaningful action to reduce the harm caused by asbestos.

Despite the UK ban in 1999, asbestos remains a major health concern, especially in buildings constructed before that time. According to the World Health Organisation, asbestos exposure contributes to over 200,000 deaths globally every year, accounting for more than 70% of all work-related cancer deaths. When disturbed, asbestos materials release microscopic fibres that can lead to fatal diseases such as mesothelioma, asbestosis, and lung cancer.

Hotels and hospitality businesses often inherit legacy asbestos risks without the in-house knowledge or resources to manage them safely. We support Global Asbestos Awareness Week because awareness is the first step to prevention. Our work focuses on giving busy hotel teams the practical tools and training they need to stay compliant and keep people safe—without disrupting day-to-day operations.
— Katie Parsons-Young, Director of Kusten Vorland

One of the most effective ways to prevent exposure is through proper training. Each year, over 200,000 individuals in the UK complete UKATA-approved asbestos training, helping to ensure safe working practices in environments where asbestos may still be present.

UKATA is committed to raising asbestos awareness across the UK and globally. Our members provide essential training worldwide, equipping individuals with the knowledge they need to protect themselves and others.
— Victoria Castelluccio, Events & Marketing Manager at UKATA

Throughout the week, Kusten Vorland will be joining UKATA across social media to help raise awareness, highlight the risks, and share knowledge about asbestos-related diseases and prevention.

As proud UKATA members, Kusten Vorland is committed to delivering industry-specific asbestos training and compliance support to the highest standard.
