Since our inception in Wales in 2009, we have consistently raised the bar in asbestos risk management.
At Kusten Vorland, we are proud to have built a reputation for excellence, honesty, and empowerment in asbestos management.
Since our founding in 2009, we have consistently raised the bar in delivering safe, effective, and compliant asbestos services, making a lasting impact in Wales and beyond.
From our beginnings as Wales’ leading licenced asbestos removal contractor, we have upheld the highest standards of integrity in all our operations. We believe in empowering our clients with the knowledge and tools they need to manage asbestos independently, reducing reliance on external services and fostering long-term safety and compliance.
Our legacy is cemented in our pivotal contributions to some of Wales' most ambitious public projects. Playing a key role in the Welsh Government’s 21st-century school investment programme, we prepared educational sites for a brighter future. From Groes Primary and Dyffryn Comprehensive Schools to Ysgol Cwm Brombil, our asbestos removal teams ensured that generations of students could learn in safe environments.
One of our proudest milestones came in 2017 when we managed the asbestos removal and demolition for the Penarth Learning Community.
This monumental effort paved the way for Bouygues UK to create the award-winning Ysgol Y Deri, a beacon of educational excellence. Our involvement extended to other significant sites, including Llantwit Major Secondary School, Sandfields Comprehensive School, Llanilltud Fawr Primary School, and the University of South Wales Atrium building.
Recognising the need for robust asbestos management within the hospitality sector, our Director, Katie Parsons-Young, and her team developed tailored systems for leading European hotel chains, including Park Inn, Thistle, Handpicked, Radisson, and Hilton. During the COVID-19 lockdown, Katie’s expertise proved invaluable to the hospitality industry, advising on asbestos risks as hotels pivoted to provide temporary housing under contracts with the Home Office.
Her guidance ensured these facilities could remain operational while addressing broader environmental challenges such as legionella, corrosion, and mould risks.
2025, Kusten Vorland will transition from a contracting service to an independent advisory role.
While our HSE license has been the backbone of our operations, this transition allows us to focus entirely on empowering clients with impartial advice, helping them navigate compliance while reducing costs and reliance on external contractors.
As Katie explains, “We leave a legacy of up-skilling 190 individuals who have secured employment in the industry. Our long-term client relationships, including advising a hotel property director and his chain since our inception, reflect our commitment to excellence and trust.”
This strategic transition underscores our commitment to honesty and expertise, ensuring we continue to serve our clients with integrity in an often-unregulated industry. Today, Kusten Vorland is a trusted partner for duty holders across the hospitality sector and beyond.
