Independent Expertise in Asbestos Management
At Kusten Vorland, we uphold the highest standards of honesty in all our interactions. Empowering clients with the knowledge and tools to manage asbestos safely and effectively without external reliance.
Since 2009, we have been Wales' leading licensed asbestos removal contractor, playing a key role in the Welsh Government’s 21st-century school investment programme. Our contributions include clearing sites for education facilities such as Groes Primary, Dyffryn Comprehensive Schools, and Ysgol Cwm Brombil. In 2017, we managed the asbestos removal and demolition for the Penarth Learning Community, facilitating the creation of the award-winning Ysgol Y Deri by Bouygues UK. Our subsequent projects include Llantwit Major Secondary School, Sandfields Comprehensive School, Llanilltud Fawr Primary School, and the University of South Wales Atrium building.
Alongside contracting, our Director, Katie Parsons-Young, and her team established a strong presence in hospitality by implementing asbestos management systems for leading European hotel chains, including Park Inn, Thistle, Handpicked, Radisson, and Hilton.
During lockdown, Katie advised the hospitality industry on Asbestos risks. Many hotels secured contracts with the Home Office to provide temporary housing, so they needed to remain operational. Katie shared her expertise while the maintenance departments addressed legionella, corrosion, and mould risks.
Katie soon recognised that their experience and knowledge could help clients navigate asbestos compliance independently, with substantial cost savings for the client.
Katie plans for Kusten Vorland to transition from contracting to a non-contracting, independent advisory service. Licensed by the HSE until February 2025, Kusten Vorland will not seek to renew its license, choosing instead to remain independent and impartial in its new role as an advisory service.
Katie Parsons-Young says, “We leave a legacy of recruiting and up-skilling 90 individuals who have all secured employment in the industry. We have established valuable partnerships with a select few in removal and surveying, offering a one-stop solution by signposting clients to them and ensuring continued loyalty. Our deep understanding of the field, reinforced by our HSE-licensed background, sets us apart in a largely unregulated industry, and we look forward to the challenge ahead.”
Today, Kusten Vorland provide duty holders with expert advice, training, and guidance on adhering to the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012, empowering them to manage asbestos independently.
